How do I compare Loan Estimates from different lenders?

Short answerCompare the same loan type, amount, and lock period across lenders, then focus on Section A lender charges, the interest rate, and the estimated cash to close. Page 3 shows the total cost over five years and the APR, which are useful tiebreakers. Get all estimates within the same two-week shopping window so credit inquiries count as one.

The details

Ignore the estimated prepaid and escrow section when comparing lenders, since those are driven by timing and taxes, not the lender.

If one estimate is missing fees the others show, ask about it; the cheapest-looking quote is sometimes just incomplete.
